“Jurassic World” director Colin Trevorrow went out a limb and compared his latest drama “The Book of Henry” to his dinosaur blockbuster.
“Both movies are whimsical and dark, and keep you on the edge of your seat,” Trevorrow told the crowd at the Focus Features luncheon at CinemaCon 2017.
The drama follows two plucky, ahead-of-their time brothers (including “Room” star Jacob Tremblay) who help the girl next door escape her abusive stepfather (“Breaking Bad”‘s Dean Norris).
Naomi Watts plays the boys’ single mom who chips in on their plan to liberate their neighbor.
Trevorrow was serious in his appeal to exhibitors to play the movie on their screens nationwide — but did promise “this film will make the same money ‘Jurassic World did … on its third Tuesday.”
“The Book of Henry” hits theaters on June 18.
