‘Justice League’ Trailer Offers First Look at Villain Steppenwolf (Video)

Comic-Con 2017: WB wowed the San Diego crowd with the first look at main villain Steppenwolf

The DC Comics superheroes are all in, joining forces against the villainous Steppenwolf in the first trailer for “Justice League.”

The eagerly-awaited clip debuted Saturday during Warner Bros.’ presentation in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con.

Directed by Zack Snyder with reshoots helmed by Joss Whedon, “Justice League” hits theaters Nov. 17.

Wonder Woman bursts into a crowded building to take on gun-toting henchman in the trailer’s opening, as the narration asks “Where is the Gotham bat?” The masked-vigilante has been a no-show during the city’s recent crime wave. Superman isn’t around to help, as he’s apparently dead at the hands of Steppenwolf.

“They said the age of heroes would never come again,” says Wonder Woman. “It has to,” replies a furrowed-browed Bruce Wayne. Cue the rest of the Justice League gang — including Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg — joining in on the plan to thwart Steppenwolf. At the end of the trailer, Alfred (played by Jeremy Irons) says to a  faceless visitor “you said you’d come. Now let’s hope you’re not too late.” Could it possibly be Superman returning from his rumored demise?

The four-minute trailer gives fans plenty to chew on until its release, with a look at the Flying Fox, the Batmobile racing through the streets and other cool tech from Batman.

It also gives a first look at J.K. Simmons of “Juno” and “Whiplash” fame playing Commissioner Gordon.

The film stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Amber Heard as Mera, J.K. Simmons as Jim Gordon and Kiersey Clemons as Iris West.

Julian Lewis Jones and Willem Dafoe are also set to appear.
