” Everybody's entitled to their own artistic expression,” Gaga says of Miley Cyrus’ VMAs performance
Lady Gaga has a message for the world: Give Miley Cyrus a break.
The “You and I” singer appeared on Bravo's “Watch What Happens Live” on Wednesday to discuss a number of topics, including Miley Cyrus’ racy, twerked-up performance at the MTV Video Music Awards last month.
“I just think everybody needs to lighten up and leave her alone,” Gaga — who's generated controversy on occasion with her performances and outfits herself — said. “Because it's pop music. Everybody's entitled to their own artistic expression, and if you have a problem with it, just change the channel.”
The “Poker Face” songbird added, “I don't understand the incessant need to constantly go on and on about hating things all the time. She's 20 years old and, if anything, I give her props. She's growing up in front of the entire world, and maybe she's not so happy with the things that she did in her career when she was younger, and she wants to be free. So let her do what she wants.”
