Lauryn Hill is heading to the slammer for tax evasion, a judge ruled during a sentencing hearing in Newark, New Jersey on Monday.
TMZ reports that the singer and actress was sentenced to three months in federal prison, followed by three more months of house arrest, and nine more months of supervised release.

Hill, who pled guilty in 2012 to three counts of tax evasion after failing to file returns on $1.8 million earned between 2005 and 2007, must report to prison by July 8 to begin serving her sentence.
The Associated Press, however, reports it's not clear when or where she will serve her time.
The "Killing Me Softly" singer's attorney argued for probation on her behalf, citing that she had paid more than $970,000 of the nearly $1 million she owed to state and federal government tax collectors. Although the judge denied the attorney's request, he didn't impose the full punishment the law allows, considering each of the three counts against Hill carried a maximum sentence of one year each.
Hill, the winner of eight Grammys, got her start in the music business as the front woman of the hip-hop group Fugees before becoming a breakout solo artist in 1998 with the release of "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill."
She's also acted in a few television and film titles over the years, including "As the World Turns," "King of the Hill" and "Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit."
