Lester Holt won both total viewers and 25-54 demo viewers for the week of June 29th, beating “World News Tonight” which was without anchor David Muir.

Nightly News attracted 8,449,000 viewers and 2,031,000 A25-54 demo viewers vs. WNT’s 7,498,000 viewers and 1,786,000 viewers.

A win is a win for NBC, who is surely hoping to see more victories out of its new Nightly News host vs. the up-and-coming Muir.

With Muir back, this week’s ratings [released next week] will show if Holt’s impressive victory this week was a sign of momentum for NBC or a product of a WNT without Muir in the anchor chair.
