Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst Stresses That He Is NOT Murder Suspect Robert Durst (Photo)

The rocker wore a sweatshirt reading “Not Robert” to avoid confusion with the creepy subject of HBO’s “The Jinx”

They may share the same last name, but that’s all Fred Durst and Robert Durst have in common.

The Limp Bizkit singer clearly reminded fans of that on Thursday when he wrote on Instagram, “I am NOT ROBERT.”

And because pictures speak louder than words, he posted a photo wearing a sweatshirt with the same message.

The social media statement came after the Associated Press confused the rocker with the subject of HBO’s “The Jinx” in a story on Mar. 16, sparking a flood of memes and Twitter jokes about the unlikely comparison.

“The Associated Press reported erroneously that Robert Durst is a member of a band,” read a correction issued by the AP the following day. “He is a real estate heir; Fred Durst is the former frontman of Limp Bizkit.”

The erroneous — but hilarious — mix-up occurred in a paragraph that read: “A Louisiana State Police trooper says millionaire Robert Durst has been booked on weapons charges in that state — on top of a first-degree murder charge lodged by Los Angeles authorities.

“Trooper Melissa Matey told the Associated Press that an arrest warrant was issued for the former Limp Bizkit frontman and he was rebooked in the Orleans Parish Jail on Monday under two new charges.”

As TheWrap previously reported, Los Angeles County prosecutors filed a murder charge earlier this month against the real estate heir in the 2000 killing of his friend Susan Berman.

Durst, who was the subject of the HBO documentary series “The Jinx,” made a shocking revelation on the series finale, which aired a day after his arrest: “There it is. You’re caught … What the hell did I do? Killed them all, of course.”

He has since been transferred to Elayn Hunt Correctional Center in St. Gabriel, Louisiana and a preliminary hearing on criminal charges will be held on Apr. 2.
