Listen to Radiohead’s Rejected ‘Spectre’ Bond Theme Song

Rocker Thom Yorke posts the song written for — and unused by — the new 007 movie

Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke offered fans the ultimate Christmas present: a link to a rejected theme song that the band had written for the new James Bond movie “Spectre.”

Posting Friday on his personal Twitter account, Yorke confirmed that the rockers had been asked to write the Bond theme — something that had long been rumored — but that “It didn’t work out.”

The movie’s producers wound up using the somber ballad “Writing’s on the Wall” by another British artist, Sam Smith.

But while the Radiohead tune didn’t make its way into the new 007 movie with Daniel Craig, Yorke noted that the composition “became something of our own which we love very much ….”

And so he decided to provide a link to the song on Soundcloud as a holiday present to fans, with a shout-out to another beloved movie franchise. “As the year closes we thought you might like to hear it,” he wrote. “Merry Christmas. May the force be with you.”
