L’Wren Scott Death Confirmed as Suicide, Medical Examiner Says

Designer and girlfriend of Mick Jagger hung herself, autopsy determines

The death of L’Wren Scott, fashion designer and girlfriend to Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, has been ruled a suicide.

A spokesperson for the New York City Medical Examiner’s office confirmed to TheWrap Wednesday that Scott’s cause of death was hanging, and the manner of death was suicide. She was 49.

Scott was found dead Monday in her New York apartment. According to the New York Daily News, Scott’s assistant found her hanging from a scarf on a door knob that morning, after being told to come to the apartment by Scott.

In light of Scott’s death, the Rolling Stones have postponed the remainder of their tour through Australia and New Zealand. The group intends to reschedule the shows.

Scott’s long-time boyfriend Jagger wrote on his Facebook page that he’s “struggling to understand” Scott’s death.

“I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way,” the singer wrote.

“We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves … She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me.”
