How Stephen Colbert, Trevor Noah Mocked Mariah Carey’s NYE Disaster (Videos)

Apologies, MC — the late-night hosts are back with a vengeance after the holiday break

Sorry, Mariah Carey — the late-night hosts are back.

Stephen Colbert and Trevor Noah both returned just in time to catch one last gasp of Mariah mocking, and they both made the most of the dwindling opportunity during their respective Tuesday night opening segments.

Colbert’s version was a more elaborate teleprompter-blackout gag, complete with enthusiastic backup dancers and gigantic feathers. Dare we say he did it better? Watch Colbert’s cold open above and let us know in the comments section if you agree with that take.

Over on cable and a half-hour earlier, “Daily Show” host Noah used a small portion of his first segment to explain to all of us what exactly went wrong during Carey’s disastrous “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’ performance, which suffered from an epic audio equipment malfunction.

Turns out the whole thing was Noah’s bad. Whoops. Readers can jump right to the 1:50 mark if the South African comic’s Machu Pichu story lead-in gets a big dry.

Check Noah’s take out below — sounds like someone owes a lot of bickering people a pretty big apology.
