Marissa Mayer is expecting twin girls by year’s end, the Yahoo! CEO announced on Tumblr on Monday.

“I’m pregnant!” she wrote.  “In fact, I’m expecting identical twin girls, likely arriving in December.  The twins part was quite a surprise, because I have no family history of twins or any other predisposing factors.”

Mayer, who returned to work two weeks after delivering her son, won’t be taking much time off after she gives birth for the second time.

“Since my pregnancy has been healthy and uncomplicated and since this is a unique time in Yahoo’s transformation, I plan to approach the pregnancy and delivery as I did with my son three years ago, taking limited time away and working throughout.”

She concluded that she’s dedicated to building Yahoo and her family: “I’m extremely energized by and dedicated to both my family and Yahoo and will do all that is necessary and more to help both thrive.  The future looks extremely bright on both fronts.”

Mayer worked throughout most of her first pregnancy and was criticized by many for returning to work shortly after giving birth. Her second pregnancy comes on the heels of media and technology companies expanding their paid maternity leave programs, including Netflix and Microsoft.
