ABC’s “Agent Carter” is no “Agents of SHIELD,” as the new series debuted 60 percent lower than its predecessor did. Still, the decent 1.9 rating “Carter” pulled in is the network’s best demo number in the two-hour timeslot in more than a year. And to be (further) fair, “SHIELD” had a much-hyped fall debut, while “Carter” received far less of a marketing push and had a less-desirable January premiere.

CBS topped Tuesday in both the 18-49 ratings and total viewers.

CBS was first in ratings with a 2.3 rating/7 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and first in viewers with an average of 15.6 million, according to preliminary numbers. “NCIS” at 8 p.m. earned night-highs of a 2.8/9 and 19.5 million viewers. “NCIS: New Orleans” received a 2.5/7 — up 32 percent from its last original — and 17.4 million viewers. “Person of Interest” at 10 got a 1.7/5 — up 31 percent — and 10 million viewers.

ABC was second in ratings with a 1.6/5 and in viewers with 6.2 million. “Marvel’s Agents Carter” at 8 debuted to a 1.9/6 and 6.9 million viewers. “Forever” at 10 had a 1.1/3 and 4.9 million viewers.

Fox was third in ratings with a 1.5/5 and in viewers with 4 million. The winter premiere of “MasterChef Junior” at 8 got a 1.8/5 and 5.3 million viewers. “New Girl” at 9 had a 1.5/4 and 3.2 million viewers. “Mindy Project” at 9:30 received a 1.0/3 and 2.2 million viewers.

Univision was fourth in ratings with a 1.2/4 and fifth in viewers with 2.9 million.

NBC was fifth in ratings with a 1.1/3 and fourth in total viewers with 3.8 million. Following a rerun, “Marry Me” at 9 had a 0.8/2 — down 33 percent from its last original — and 2 million viewers. “About a Boy” at 9:30 got a 0.8/2 and 2.7 million viewers. “Chicago Fire” at 10 received a 1.7/5 and 6.7 million viewers.

Telemundo was sixth in ratings with a 0.6/2 and in total viewers with 1.5 million.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.4/1 and in total viewers with 1.2 million.
