‘Marvel’s Iron Fist’ Picks Raven Metzner as New Showrunner for Season 2

Netflix series will have a new head honcho for its second season

Netflix’s “Marvel’s Iron Fist” has tapped Raven Metzner as its new showrunner heading into its second season. Metzner was previously an exec producer for Fox’s “Sleepy Hollow” and will replace Scott Buck, who lead “Iron Fist” in its first season.

“Iron Fist” EP Jeph Loeb announced the series’ renewal on Friday at Comic-Con, joining superhero shows “Jessica Jones,” “Daredevil,” and “Luke Cage” in being picked up by Netflix for a longer run.

“Raven’s love of all things “Iron Fist” and his extensive knowledge of martial arts films made him the perfect choice to continue telling the adventures of Danny Rand and Colleen Wing,” said Loeb.

“Iron Fist” stars Finn Jones as Danny Rand, heir to a billion-dollar corporation that’s being run by a hostile former business partner of his father’s. Rand turns into the title character after a crash in the unknown city of K’un L’un.

The show was one of the rare critical misses by the online streaming giant, with it only garnering a paltry 17 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Despite its poor reception, the return of “Iron Fist” makes sense, since the character will team up with Daredevil, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones in the upcoming Netflix series “The Defenders.”
