It's been a rough year for Brendan Fraser.
The "Encino Man" star suffered gamely through the indignity of starring in last spring's critically derided "Furry Vengeance." Now, Playbill is reporting that Fraser's play "Elling" will close after 22 previews and nine performances.
That makes it one of the shortest lived productions in the history of the Great White Way.
The comedy about mentally ill roommates marked Fraser's Broadway debut, but was savaged by critics. The lights go dark on the troubled production at the Ethel Barrymore on Nov. 28 at 3 PM.
In addition to Fraser, the play co-stars Tony winners Denis O'Hare and Richard Easton and "Mighty Wind" star Jennifer Coolidge.
Right about now Fraser's probably regretting his decision to pass on that sequel to "Journey to the Center of the Earth."
