Kanye West dominated the Grammy nominations, picking up a leading seven nods on Wednesday night.

Among the rap star's nominations was  Song of the Year for "All of the Lights," his collaboration with Fergie, Rihanna and Kid Cudi. The controversial rapper's collaboration with Jay-Z, "Watch the Throne," was nominated for Best Rap Album.

His other nominations included Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance and, for his other album last year, "My Beautiful Dark, Twisted Fantasy," another Best Rap Album nomination. He was not nominated for Best Album, however.

Also with strong showings were Adele, Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars, all of whom scored six nominations.

Adele's breakout album, "21" was nominated for album of the year for "21" and song of the year for the ubiquitous "Rolling in the Deep."

Mars' "Grenade" was nominated for album of the year, as was Foo Fighters' "Wasting Light."

Other candidates for multiple door-stoppers include Lil Wayne and Skrillex with five nominations each.

Nominations for the top awards were announced during a one-hour concert in Los Angeles that aired on CBS.

Though Lady Gaga opened the show in fine fashion with a typical outre zombie costume, the biggest act in music only grabbed three nominations, for Album of the Year and Best Pop Solo performance. Her hit single "Born This Way" was snubbed for song of the year.

The ceremony will take place on Feb. 12.
