iPad newspaper to have launch party next Wednesday at New York's Guggenheim Museum
After weeks of delays and several false starts, News Corp. has officially announced the launch of its iPad newspaper The Daily.
Rupert Murdoch's ambitious play to corner the market on tablet based news will be unveiled at a ceremony on Wednesday, February 2 at the Guggenheim Museum in New York.
The News Corp chairman and CEO will attend along with Apple's Eddy Cue, vice president of Internet Services. It does not appear that Steve Jobs will be at the ceremony. The Apple CEO went on medical leave last week.
The Daily was initially supposed to launch in December, but that was pushed back several weeks to mid-January. The launch was reportedly put on hold while Apple worked out bugs with a new subscription feature on iTunes.
In the meantime, the paper aggressively poached journalists, hiring as many as 100 reporters to join its ranks.
The Daily will be sold only on the iPad for $0.99 per edition.
