The rock-steady exodus of Newsweek staffers continues. The latest: Mark Hosenball, investigative reporter and 17-year-veteran of the beleaguered weekly magazine, is heading to Reuters.
Hosenball will be a money and politics reporter for the news service. (His departure was first reported by the Upshot.)
He said the magazine’s pending sale to audio magnate Sidney Harman "was at least some factor" in his decision to jump ship.
To once again recap, Hosenball follows the (announced, pending or actual) exits of editor-in-chief Jon Meacham, international editor Fareed Zakaria, editor-at-large Evan Smith, editorial director Mark Miller, diplomatic correspondent Lally Weymouth, national economic correspondent and senior editor Michael Hirsch, economics editor Daniel Gross, Newsweek.com general manager Geoff Reiss and executive editor Gabriel Snyder, and probably others I’m forgetting.
Wow.
It appears Harman, who agreed to buy the magazine for $1 in July, is going to have a thin masthead if and when the sale is completed.
