The Hollywood Reporter seems to be building a pay wall.

The subscription page on the trade's newly redesigned website (see screen grab below) suggests it might be following in the footsteps of its longtime competition, Variety, which made most of the content on its site password-protected last year.

For $19.95 a month, the THR ad states, subscribers get "unrestricted access to exclusive, password-protected content," including "daily editions of the day's hot-button topics," as well as "breaking news and cutting edge tools, complete TV and film production listings, and box-office grosses and weekly TV ratings.

To date, THR has only restricted its archives to subscribers.

THR executives didn't respond to an inquiry from TheWrap.

THR quietly introduced its site redesign over the weekend. Now under the editorial direction of former Us Weekly editor Janice Min, the publication plans to cease distribution of its daily print product and begin production of a once-a-week glossy magazine within the next few weeks.
