A months after Gaga au naturel, magazine targets fanboys, girls and gawkers
Rolling Stone has long history of convincing people – John and Yoko, Pam and Tommy, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Aniston, Laetitia Casta, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Lady Gaga — to pose nude on their covers.
On the cover of the latest issue: “True Blood” stars Anna Paquin, fiancé and co-star Stephen Moyer and Alexander Skarsgard – naked and blood-splattered for the accompanying story, "The Joy of Vampire Sex." Which is fitting, considering the HBO vampire show is equal parts blood, sex and nude vampires.
Surely, this cover will entice bloodthirsty “True Blood” fans and assorted gawkers to snatch up some extra copies at the newsstand – and Jann Wenner and co. could use ‘em.
According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, Rolling Stone sold, on average, 104,855 copies per issue during the second half of 2009. Through June 24, 2010, that average dipped to 79,883.
