Here's an added excuse for fanboys attending Comic-Con to geek out. "Captain America: The First Avenger" will premiere at the convention on Thursday, July 21, a day before its nationwide release.

The first-look at the comic book adaptation will go a long way towards assuaging fans' worries that this year's Comic-Con will lack sufficient star wattage. It's a fear that's been popping up in the blogosphere ever since Marvel announced that it will not have a panel at this year's convention.

Marvel and the film's distributor Paramount will host a free fan screening at 10 A.M. on Thursday with the movie’s star Chris Evans on-hand to introduce the movie.

As for baubles, attendees are being promised RealD 3D collectors glasses in appropriately patriotic red, white and blue. They'll also get a limited edition poster.

Fans are being encouraged to dress-up in Cap's trademark tights and don his patented shield to ensure their seats at the screening.

Given that it's Comic-Con, some convention-goers probably planned to wear that get-up anyway.
