Multiscreen app service M-GO Entertainment has signed content licensing deals with DreamWorks Animation and Relativity Media, the company announced Tuesday at TheGrill, TheWrap's annual conference.
The M-GO service – set to debut in the fourth quarter of this year -- will enable consumers to rent or purchase digital entertainment including new release movies, TV shows and catalog film & TV shows on multiple digital platforms. It is a joint venture between DreamWorks and Technicolor.
"M-GO’s unique offering has allowed us to secure wins with leading companies in both the technology and entertainment industries,” John Batter, M-GO’s CEO, said in a statement.
"We're trying to round out all the content that you want," Batter added at TheGrill.
The M-GO service will be available on all major platforms and function on a full spectrum of operating systems including Android, iOS and Windows. M-GO will be pre-loaded on Samsung’s 2012 Smart TV’s, Blu-ray players and Wi-Fi tablets, as well as those of Vizio and Intel.
It includes a wishlist, letting users select the movies they want to see in the future.
"We're trying to replicate the retail buying experience -- if you guys remember going to a video rental store, picking five or six movies and then choosing from those what you want to rent and putting the rest back," Batter told the audience.
With the new agreement, M-GO consumers will have access to DreamWorks Animation’s film franchises including “Shrek,” “Madagascar,” “Kung Fu Panda” and “How to Train Your Dragon,” as well as Relativity’s live-action releases “The Raven,” “Mirror Mirror” and “Act of Valor.”

unparalleled," said DreamWorks Animation chief operating officer Ann Daly.
The deals announced Tuesday are in addition to M-GO’s previous licensing agreements with NBCUniversal, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox and Warner Bros. Digital Distribution.
“Relativity is always looking to expand our presence in the digital space and we are pleased to have forged a new partnership in the transactional business with M-GO,” said David Spiegelman, president, domestic television and digital distribution at Relativity Media.
The deal extends a partnership between M-GO and Ultraviolet, the cloud-based film service launched by Hollywood studios to offset the decline in DVD sales. When users buy specific titles from retailers like M-GO, the film goes straight to the cloud, allowing users to watch it from any available device.
More content deals are expected to be announced ahead of the launch.
