Updated 3:37 p.m. PT Jan. 25:

Employees at Universal's Wasserman Building are heading back to work after a leak in the water purification system caused the building to be evacuated Wednesday afternoon.

No one was injured, but about 200 people who were in the building when workers in the basement noticed the smell, were evacuated for about three hours.

About 400 people, including Universal President Ron Meyer, work in the 15-story building, along Lankershim Boulevard. Meyer was out of the office when the evacuation occurred.

Cindy Gardner, a Universal spokeswoman, told TheWrap that someone noticed the smell around 12:45 p.m. and that the building was evacuated within minutes.

The building is near Universal's commissary, and many employees went there, since it was lunchtime anyway. Universal also opened a nearby theater for employees.

No one was injured.

Los Angeles County and Burbank firefighters were investigated the odor, first noticed in the basement.

There was no impact on the studio's theme park.
