Walt Disney is making Miss Marple younger.

In a dozen of mystery writer Agatha Christie's novels, Jane Marple was an elderly, crime-solving spinster.

Walt Disney Studios, which confirmed Monday that it has acquired rights to the character, sees her a little younger -- like in her 30s or 40s.

Mark Frost, who co-created the television show "Twin Peaks" and wrote "Fantastic Four" and  "Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer," will write the screenplay.

Christie is the best-selling author of all time. Her 80 novels and short story collections have sold more than 2 billion copies and been translated to 45 languages. Her play "The Mousetrap" is the longest-running in theatrical history.
