Cameron Diaz is joining "King's Speech" star Colin Firth in a remake of the 1966 British caper comedy "Gambit."

The new movie, written by Joel and Ethan Coen, will begin shooting in London in May. Michael Hoffman, who directed "The Last Supper," is directing and Mike Lobell, of "The Freshman" and "Honeymoon in Vegas," is producing with Crime Scene Pictures partners Adam Ripp and Rob Paris. Crime Scene is financing.

FilmNation Entertainment will handle sales outside the U.S. beginning at the European Film Market in Berlin this month.

The movie is about an art curator in London, played by Firth, who tries to con a wealthy collector into buying a fake Monet. As part of the gambit, he recruits a steer roper from Texas, PJ Puznowski, played by Diaz, to pretend to be a woman whose grandfather liberated the painting after World War II.
