Nicholas Hoult could be moving from the mutant farm to the beanstalk.
British actor Hoult, who will next be seen as Beast in the June release "X-Men: First Class," has been offered the lead in the "Jack and the Beanstalk" adaptation "Jack the Giant Killer," New Line has confirmed to TheWrap.
Hoult would play the mythological farmer Jack, who leads the charge to a kingdom of giants in order to rescue a distressed princess. Like "X-Men: First Class," the fairytale revamp is being directed by Bryan Singer, for New Line and Legendary Pictures.
As previously reported by TheWrap, Stanley Tucci and Bill Nighy have already been cast in the film, as the villain Roderick and Fallon, the leader of the giants, respectively.
Hoult, 21, first came to the attention of many in the 2002 Hugh Grant-starring "About a Boy," and further upped his profile in the original British series "Skins" (recently controversially adapted by MTV), along with the 2009 drama "A Single Man" and last year's "Clash of the Titans."
In addition to the "X-Men" franchise revamp, he also will be taking the male lead opposite Charlize Theron in the George Miller-directed "Mad Max" prequel, "Mad Max: Fury Road. "
"Giant Killer' will go into production in London in March.
