‘Mr. Selfridge’ – and Jeremy Piven – Renewed for Season 2

New season of PBS series about the brazen founder of London's Selfridges department store will premiere in 2014

Jeremy Piven can breathe easy; he's lined up work for another year.

PBS has renewed the series "Mr. Selfridge" — which stars "Entourage" alum Piven as the brazen, titular department-store entrepreneur — for a second season on "Masterpiece Classic," the network said Monday. The new season will premiere in 2014.

The second season of the series, which is filming in the U.K., includes new cast additions Polly Walker ("John Carter"), Cal Macaninch ("Wild at Heart") and Aidan McArdle ("Jane Eyre").

"I'm absolutely delighted that 'Masterpiece' viewers welcomed 'Mr. Selfridge' into their homes," Piven said. "'Mr. Selfridge' is a true ensemble piece, and audiences can look forward to seeing the return of their favorite characters and some intriguing new faces."

The series, which is co-produced by ITV Studios and "Masterpiece," drew nearly 15 million viewers through its eight-episode first season.

The second season of "Mr. Selfridge" picks up the story in 1914, as Selfridges department store celebrates its fifth year in business. With World War I imminent, the lives of everyone at the store will inevitably be affected.
