‘Night Shift’ Stars Dish on Their ‘Non-Hollywood Hollywood’ Bosses, Tease Show Romance (Video)

Freddy Rodriguez, Jeananne Goossen and Adam Rodriguez tell TheWrap about the second season of the NBC series on new episode of “Drinking With the Stars”

The stars of NBC’s “The Night Shift” joined TheWrap for a drink and gave us an inside look at the characters, love triangles and off-camera friendships that make the show a hit with fans.

“I feel like the cast does have a great relationship,” Freddy Rodriguez said.

“Our creators, Jeff [Judah] and Gabe [Sachs], are probably some of the most non-Hollywood Hollywood show creators you’ll ever meet,” he added, saying the relaxed vibe on set “starts from the top and it trickles down.”

“It’s sort of like this magical blind date kind of experience,” Jeananne Goossen added about how the cast came together.

“None of us knew we were going to love each other as much as we do, and get on each other’s nerves in the best way possible,” she added. “We’re like siblings.”

Rodriguez and Goossen have been on the series since it premiered in 2014, but “CSI: Miami” alum Adam Rodriguez (no relation) was brought on to spice things up in the operating room this season. His character, Dr. Joey Chavez, has quickly proven a foil for Dr. TC Callahan (series lead Eoin Macken), and a romance may be kindling between him and Goossen’s character, Krista.

“This is, again, a common story for anyone who’s excelled in one area their whole life,” Goossen said about the possibility of a love interest. “She hasn’t had a whole lot of time to focus on what developing a healthy relationship would look like or what good communication always looks like.”
