A new trailer for The CW’s highly-anticipated “Riverdale” dives deeper into the underbelly of a seemingly perfect small town.
The new 90-second promo begins with a dead body washing up on the shores of Riverdale, where Archie (KJ Apa), Betty (Lili Reinhart), Veronica (Camila Mendes), Jughead (Cole Sprouse) and their friends live.
“Riverdale” is set in the present day and is based on the iconic Archie Comics characters, exploring the surrealism of small-town life — the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome façade.
The new footage teases the comics’ famous love triangle, but also Archie romancing someone else — which Jughead is not happy about.

“Riverdale” premieres Thursday, Jan. 26 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
