Damian Lewis is in final negotiations to play the villain in “Ocean’s 8,” an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

Rihanna, Mindy Kaling, Anne Hathaway, Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock and  Sarah Paulson all star in the film, directed by Gary Ross.

Bullock is the leader of the gang, with Lewis starring as her ex-lover and target of their big heist.

This summer, Ross described the film as a continuation of director Steven Soderbergh‘s “Ocean’s 11” trilogy, which starred George ClooneyBrad Pitt, Don Cheadle, Matt Damon and Julia Roberts (who is quite friendly with Blanchett, so let’s start speculating about other cameos now).

The three previous “Ocean’s” movies combined to make $426 million domestically and $1.1 billion worldwide. 2001’s “Ocean’s 11” was a remake of a 1960 film of the same name starring Rat Packers Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford.

Lewis’ most recent credits include TV shows like “Billions” and “Homeland,” with starring turns in films like “Our Kind of Traitor” and “Bill.”

Lewis is represented by UTA and Wolf-Kasteler Public Relations.

“Ocean’s 8” will hit theaters on June 8, 2018.
