The fairy tale continues as ABC has renewed “Once Upon a Time” for Season 6.

Showrunner Adam Horowitz announced the renewal via Twitter Thursday. Horowitz co-created the series with his writing partner Edward Kitsis in 2011.

“Thank you ABC and thank you to the most extraordinary fans ever!” Horowitz said.

The series takes place in the fictional town of Storybrooke, in which characters from various fairy tales are transported to the real world but lose their memories due to a powerful curse.

The series stars Lana Parrilla, Josh Dallas, Jared Gilmore and Robert Carlyle. This marks the network’s first renewal for the 2016-2017 season. “Once Upon a Time” is currently averaging just under 5 million viewers per episode for Season 5, and it is drawing a 1.6 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic.

The move comes just weeks after ABC Entertainment head Paul Lee stepped down and was replaced by former head of drama development Channing Dungey. Dungey helped develop “Once Upon a Time,” in addition to shows like “Scandal” and “How to Get Away With Murder.”
