‘The Only Living Boy in New York’ Trailer Shows Jeff Bridges Mentoring Young Lover (Video)

Amazon Studios and Roadside Attractions will release director Marc Webb’s movie in theaters Aug. 11

Jeff Bridges drolly mentors a young college graduate (played by British actor Callum Turner) in the trailer for director Marc Webb’s new indie “The Only Living Boy in New York.”

The clip from the movie, which Amazon Studios and Roadside Attractions will release in theaters on Aug. 11, follows Turner’s well-to-do young grad in New York as he seeks guidance from his eccentric neighbor (Bridges) on his romantic life in New York City.

Turner’s character is both pursuing a young woman (Kiersey Clemons) and the mistress (Kate Beckinsale) of his father (Pierce Brosnan) — a secret everyone tries to keep from his mom (Cynthia Nixon).

The trailer suggests that Webb lavishes the same attention to the details of Manhattan living that he did to Los Angeles in his breakout romantic 2009 indie “500 Days of Summer.” (Webb went on to direct two New York-set “Amazing Spider-Man” movies.)

Also, he somehow managed to secure the rights to the classic Simon & Garfunkel song of the movie’s title — which plays during the trailer.
