‘Outlander’s’ Sam Heughan, Dr. Oz’s Daughter Arabella Oz to Star in ‘When the Starlight Ends’ (Exclusive)

First-time filmmaker Adam Sigal will write and direct the dark comedy for Intellectual Films and Armory Films

Sam Heughan (“Outlander”) is set to star opposite newcomer Arabella Oz in the indie movie “When the Starlight Ends,” which hails from first-time writer-director Adam Sigal, TheWrap has learned.

Patrick Hughes, Bryan O’Connell, Mike Gillespie and Eric Skinner are producing for Intellectual Films (a Primary Wave Company) alongside Christopher Lemole and Armory Films. Production starts next month in Los Angeles.

“Starlight” is a surreal dark comedy that follows a struggling writer who, in a deep depression after losing the love of his life, must confront the decisions he made that compelled her to leave. Through a series of metaphorical vignettes providing insight into their failed relationship, the man decides to rewrite his own life the way he wishes it would have gone.

Heughan is about to start production on the second season of “Outlander,” which premiered to record numbers for Starz and returns on Apr. 4.

A graduate of Columbia’s drama program, Oz is the daughter of Dr. Mehmet Oz, and she’ll be making her feature debut in “Starlight.”

Intellectual Films recently wrapped Hyde Park/WWE Studios’ “Killing Hasselhoff,” which features Ken Jeong in his first leading role.

Armory Films recently completed production on the contemporary reboot of Eli Roth‘s horror comedy “Cabin Fever.”
