‘Trump Snooze Button’ Blocks POTUS-Related Notifications on Your Phone

Quartz iOS app helps users ignore Trump news one day at a time

From the Russia investigation to his Twitter meltdowns, Donald Trump is all over the news all the time. The mobile news app, Quartz, has found a way to stop Trump’s assault on your newsfeed, at least, temporarily.

Quartz updated its iOS app on Tuesday with a “Trump snooze button,” which blocks Trump-related notifications. If you’re tired of seeing, hearing, or reading about Trump, you can simply tune him out for 24 hours at a time.

Users can activate the “Trump Snooze” through the app’s notification settings. Although there’s no way to permanently block news about Trump, users can hit the snooze button as many times as they like.

Zach Seward, Quartz’s executive editor/SVP of product, mentioned in an interview with Nieman Lab that Quartz will use discretion when deciding which notifications to block. For example, any vital Trump-related information, like his statement about the bombing of Syria, will not be blocked.

Constant Trump exposure can seem as harmful as direct sun exposure (and conveniently, the sun is also orange). Now, Quartz has created some temporary protection.

The app is available for free on iTunes.
