Queen guitarist Brian May is back in business, after postponing a string of dates late last year due to a “persistent illness.”
The group announced Thursday that it will hit the road for a summer tour in June, playing 25 cities with “a brand-new show specially designed and created for this outing.”
The road jaunt will kick off June 23 at the Gila River Arena in Phoenix, Ariz., followed by a show at the Hollywood Bowl on June 26.
“The high-energy concert will bring their history alive in all its passion and glory, with stops in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia and more, before wrapping on Aug. 5 in Houston at the Toyota Center,” a statement announcing the tour noted.
Tickets go on sale to the general public starting Feb. 3 at at 10 a.m. local time, though members of both Queen and Adam Lambert’s fan clubs will be able to purchase tickets beginning January 31 at 10 a.m.
In October, Queen guitarist May announced that he was indefinitely postponing the December dates of his UK tour with singer Kerry Ellis, saying he was “increasingly battling with a persistent illness which is destroying my energy and my will. I am now at the point where I don’t feel confident to perform the scheduled shows to the standard we all expect.”
The musician continued, “I’ve been strongly advised to rest and heal, rather than go out and risk ‘falling down on the job’ out there, which would be a real tragedy.”
