Ratings: ‘Bachelorette’ Kaitlyn-Nick Sex Drama Overtakes Slipping NBC Monday Night

The latest “Bachelorette” drama propelled ABC over a down NBC Monday night, with the reality dating competition finishing first in the key 18-49 demographic and total viewers. Last night, bachelorette Kaitlyn revealed to suitor Shawn that she slept with Nick; the show, meanwhile, enjoyed a five percent boost in ratings.

For NBC, “The Island” season finished down nine percent in the demo.

Elsewhere, the CW finished in last place last night despite the premiere of “Penn & Teller: Fool Us,” the return of “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” and an up “Barber Battles.”

ABC was first in ratings with a 1.6 rating/5 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 5.8 million, according to preliminary numbers. “The Bachelorette” at 8 p.m. earned a 2.0/7 and 6.9 million viewers. “The Whispers” at 10 p.m. received a 0.8/3 and 3.5 million viewers.

NBC was second in ratings with a 1.5/5 and in viewers with 5.2 million. “American Ninja Warrior” at 8 p.m. posted a 1.8/6 and 6.2 million viewers. “The Island” at 10 p.m. concluded its season with a 1.0/3 and 3.4 million viewers.

Fox was third in ratings with a 1.0/4 and fourth in viewers with 3.4 million. “So You Think You Can Dance” at 8 p.m. was the only show on the network’s primetime schedule.

Univision was fourth in ratings with a 0.9/3 and fifth in viewers with 2.3 million.

CBS was fifth in ratings with a 0.8/3, but third in viewers with 4.9 million, airing just reruns.

Telemundo was sixth in ratings with a 0.7/2 and in viewers with 1.54 million.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.5/2 and in viewers with 1.52 million. The season premiere of “Penn & Teller: Fool Us” at 8 had a 0.5/2 and 1.8 million viewers. “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” at 9 got a 0.5/2 and 1.5 million viewers. “Barber Battle” at 10 received a 0.3/1 and 1 million viewers.
