Univision Scores Best Ratings Year in Network’s History

The Spanish-language network made strides in the traditional 18-49 demographic

Univision had a buen ano.

Over the course of the full 52-week 2012-2013 season, Univision Network ranked as the No. 1 broadcast network for six weeks among the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic, up from the previous season (two weeks).

Univision was No. 1 versus all English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, FOX, or NBC) on 61 nights in the key demo, nearly double its previous season (32).

Those above-numbers are the best in network history. For some context: Univision launched in 1962, Nielsen measurement began in 1992.

Also, for 17 consecutive weeks this season, Univision ranked No. 4 or higher in ratings, beating at least one English-language broadcast network in the demo.

“Our commitment to delivering the best, first-run programming to our viewers year round continues to pay off,” Alberto Ciurana, president, Programming & Content, Univision Networks, told TheWrap. “From beating NBC in the February sweep to winning our first sweep in network history this July, and nearly doubling the number of No. 1 nights vs. last season, Univision Network has established itself as a strong competitor with the English-language networks week by week, night by night.”
