‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’s’ Kenya Moore: ‘I Never Sexted’ Phaedra Parks’ Husband

The Bravo star says she was never inappropriate with her castmate’s spouse, Apollo Nida

Aside from taking on castmate NeNe Leakes on Bravo’s sixth season of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Kenya Moore has an ongoing feud with castmember Phaedra Parks.

Moore accused Parks’ husband, Apollo Nida, of sending her cell phone texts on last season’s reunion special and ever since the nature of those exchanges have been in question. And, that alleged flirtation continues to be a bone of contention on Season 6.

“I never sexted Apollo. And, anyone who accuses me of that is absolutely a liar,” Moore told TheWrap.

“I’ve never been inappropriate,” the former Miss USA continued. “I’ve only had a friendly relationship with him. They have their problems. They need to address their problems within the marriage and not pull other people into it. It’s sort of an excuse as to why their behavior is the way it is, maybe to make another person in the marriage jealous.”

Cracks in Parks and Nida’s marriage became apparent last season even as the couple carried on with extreme displays of affection on-screen. Married in 2009, they surprised fans when they announced Parks was pregnant with their second child – a son born earlier this year — while their marital problems were still airing on the series.

“You have to really be a thinking person when you’re looking into that relationship for the why of it,” Moore, 42, said. “But, it’s apparent to everyone else that their relationship isn’t as solid as they would like people to think.”

TheWrap spoke to Moore further about her take on Season 6 and what fans can expect.

TheWrap: How did you approach this season compared to your first season on the show last year?
Moore: This season, my approach was different. I wanted to show a little bit more of who I am and allow the girls to know me on a more intimate level. I don’t think I did that last year. In the beginning, Phaedra stabbed me in the back and I became gun-shy very quickly. I was very mistrustful of those women. This season, I knew what certain women were capable of, so I decided to let these other women get to know me a little bit better. I think I’m more three-dimensional this season rather than one-dimensional last season.

How would you describe Season 6?
It’s tumultuous. That’s the perfect word. It’s up and it’s down. It’s like a storm. You never know where the eye of the storm is then all of a sudden you’re in the middle. It’s an epic, tumultuous season and it’s probably the best season the show has ever had.

Are you all going away again for the annual trip?
We went on two trips. First trip was Savanna and we all didn’t want to go, because we thought it would be like pulling our hair out one by one. But, it ended up being a really good trip, really eventful, full of surprises and emotions, bonding. It was a great trip, some tomfoolery, as well.

And we went to Mexico. That was very eye opening, as well. It was different. They were two very different locations and one was a couples’ trip and one was us girls. It’s definitely riveting television.

“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” airs Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo.
