“Roadies” has been canceled by Showtime after just one season, TheWrap has learned.
The series, which was created by Cameron Crowe, starred Luke Wilson and Carla Gugino. It followed the lives of a rock ‘n’ roll road crew and the bizarre family unit they have formed while working for a touring arena band.
“My mind is still spinning from the giddy highs of working with this epic cast and crew,” Crowe wrote on his website. “Though we could tell a thousand more stories, this run ends with a complete ten-hour tale of music and love. Like a song that slips under your skin, or a lyric that keeps speaking to you, we hope the spell of ‘Roadies’ lingers. It was life-changing experience for all of us.”
The series also starred Imogen Poots, Rafe Spall, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Peter Cambor, Colson Baker a.k.a. Machine Gun Kelly, Ron White and Tanc Sade.
Crowe wrote and directed in addition to serving as executive producer. Winnie Holzman was the showrunner. JJ Abrams and Bad Robot’s Bryan Burk served as executive produce. Kelly Curtis, the former manager of Pearl Jam, produced and served as the music supervisor.
The show was produced by Bad Robot Productions, Vinyl Films and Dooley & Company Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Despite the creative dream team behind the show, it failed to find an audience. It averaged only a 0.09 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic across its 10-episode run, and drew about 300,000 viewers per episode.
