Rolling Stone Reputation ‘Seriously at Stake’ for Not Firing Reporter, Says Story’s Student (Video)

“I was never contacted by Jackie or by any of the other staff of Rolling Stone prior to the publishing of the article,” says UVA student Ryan Duffin, who was mentioned in the article

Two friends of the female student “Jackie” depicted in the erroneous “A Rape on Campus” story appeared on Fox News Monday, suggesting Rolling Stone’s reputation is on the line.

“I think the Rolling Stone puts it reputation seriously at stake for not doing that,” Alex Stock, one of the students mentioned in the Rolling Stone story, but never contacted by reporter Sabrina Rubin Erdely, told Megyn Kelly about whether Rolling Stone should fire her.

His friend and fellow University of Virginia student Ryan Duffin, who was a friend of the story’s accuser, “Jackie,” recounted the night of the alleged attack, where he ran into Jackie, who was crying uncontrollably, but had no signs of physical injury.

Duffin denied ever saying he didn’t want to participate in the story or speak with Erdely; in the story, Erdely described Duffin refusing to speak to Rolling Stone because he didn’t want to get involved in her “shit show.”

“I was never contacted by Jackie or by any of the other staff of Rolling Stone prior to the publishing of the article,” Duffin said.

Alex denied encouraging Jackie not to report her rape because her reputation would be shot for the rest of her college experience.

“That’s just not true, and I think if Sabrina had reached out to us, to anybody, she would have found out that’s not true,” he said.
