Rose Byrne to Make Broadway Debut in ‘You Can’t Take It With You’

James Earl Jones also starring in the revival of George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart’s classic comedy

After starring in the upcoming big screen adaptation of “Annie,” it looks like Rose Byrne may have caught the theater bug. The actress is set to make her Broadway debut next spring in a new production of “You Can’t Take It With You” opposite a cast that also includes James Earl Jones.

The comedic play in three acts follows two very different families brought together by a pair of young lovers. Byrne will play Alice, the seemingly “normal” daughter in an eccentric family that seems mad. Annaleigh Ashford, Kristine Nielsen, Mark Linn-Baker, Crystal A. Dickinson, Julie Halston and Reg Rogers are also part of the ensemble cast.

Scott Ellis will direct the revival, which will also contain brand new music from Tony winner Jason Robert Brown (“The Last Five Years”). Previews begin at Longacre Theater on August 26, officially opening on September 28.

Byrne will next be seen on the big screen in Shawn Levy‘s “This Is Where I Leave You.”
