Ryan Seacrest isn’t convinced that the current season of “American Idol” will be its last.

Fox has billed Season 15 of the show, which premiered on Jan. 6, as “The Farewell Season.” But Seacrest, the only member of the show’s cast who has been on all seasons, was asked at a Television Critics Association panel on Friday whether he thought “Idol” would eventually return to TV.

Citing a solid ratings start for Season 15 — something he was discussing just this morning with network bosses Dana Walden and Gary Newman — Seacrest said, “When you’ve got a franchise that has this kind of heritage … and generates X amount of millions of people and sustains — does that mean it’s the end? I’m not so sure.”

Keith Urban, one of the show’s judges, also chimed in on the issue, saying, “I think that the Eagles have done three farewell tours.”

Seacrest and the hosts were also asked if they would consider rejoining the show if it was revived down the road.

“Hypothetically, if that happened, ‘American Idol’ has a special place in my heart,” Jennifer Lopez said. “I would always consider.”
