Samantha Bee revealed the format of her new TBS late-night series “Full Frontal” during the 2016 TCA Winter Press Tour in Pasadena, California.

Bee said the show will resemble a weekly news magazine format rather than a nightly news show. She will not feature guests like a traditional late night series, which she says leaves the third act of each show open to what she calls “our world of whimsy,” where anything can happen.

Bee also said she wants highlight issues that are largely ignored by the media.”What we really want to do at the show is take stories that we don’t think receive enough attention and stab them with red hot poker of comedy,” she said.

Bee also said that she understands that her show will draw comparisons to her previous work on “The Daily Show.” “‘Full Frontal’ is going to have a pretty heavy field element,” she said. “That was work that I loved doing so much. I’m really passionate about it and I thought it would be a really interesting and unique thing to keep going.”

Bee and her executive producer Jo Miller also revealed some of the topics that will be tackled on the show, such as the VA Hospital system’s lack of preparedness to accommodate female soldiers in need of medical care.

The pair also spoke about a recent location shoot in Jordan, in which they attended an American cultural orientation class provided to refugees who will be re-settled in the United States.

“Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” will premiere on TBS on Feb. 8.
