Rowan a.k.a. Eli a.k.a. Papa Pope (Joe Morton) was never one to be controlled by anything or anyone — that is until the Shadowy Organization suspiciously appeared in his life.

Although Papa Pope always seems like he has the entire world under control — like literally not one thing bothers that man — with his commanding presence and unamused demeanor, on Thursday night’s episode of “Scandal,” we find out that Mr. Paeus and Samantha of the Shadowy Organization have found an extremely wicked way of getting to him.

When Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and President Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) attempt to get information out of Eli and he refuses to budge, they figure out that Paeus and Samantha have him under their control … but how?

Soon enough, through Huck’s (Guillermo Diaz) special investigative powers, we find out that Papa Pope gets sent a box every three days that weighs about 9 to 11 pounds and it freaks him the hell out. What’s in the box? A brick.

Yes, Rowan Pope gets freaked out by a brick in a box … but there’s more to it than meets the eye.

Apparently, the Shadowy Organization sends him a box weighing 9 to 11 pounds (the average weight of a human head) and if they believe that Papa Pope is “misbehaving” or not following their directions to their liking, then the box will contain his daughter Olivia’s head. If he’s doing a good job, the box will have a brick.

But aside from that, can you just imagine the psychological torture that comes with being delivered a box every three days not knowing if you’re going to find a brick or your family member’s head in it?

Just sick.
