Thursday night’s episode of “Scandal” exploded on social media when fans lost it over ABC telling them to “Put a Ring On It.”

The latest installment focused on Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry) in flashbacks to his two previous marriages and his upcoming one to prostitute Michael, which Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) was pushing him to have at the White House to make a big splash. “There is no bigger stage, there is no bigger moment,” she said.

The secret-spilling episode fired up Twitter users, none more so than Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia De Rossi — who plays Elizabeth North, the head of the Republican National Committee — as they live-tweeted the show.

When the gigolo (played by Michael Del Negro) who was hired by the president’s political enemy to seduce POTUS’ gay chief of staff got himself into trouble, the Gladiators started damage control and urged Cyrus to move up the nuptials.

So the team launched into the planning of Beene’s big gay White House wedding, while former Vice President Sally Langston returned and set her sights on exposing it as a sham by offering a reward to anyone who could prove the marriage was fraudulent.

Even Cyrus himself was tempted to throw Michael to the wolves once he learned of his affair, but after a dinner with his horrendous parents revealed how they had sent him to camp as a kid to cure his gayness, the groom-to-be came around.

Viewers also saw glimpses of Cyrus’ past, including his 16-year marriage to first wife Janet (played by Emily Berg) and the subsequent drama with late husband, James (Dan Bucatinsky).

Another unexpected treat was a look back at Olivia and Fitz’s romance — and yet another ring; this one had a name. “I was supposed to give it to you,” he told her.
