Sean Cocchia Promoted to EVP, Business Operations and GM for Disney Channels Worldwide

Veteran TV executive has been with the company since 1998

Sean Cocchia has been promoted to Executive Vice President, Business Operations and General Manager, Disney Channels Worldwide, the company announced on Thursday.

Cocchia’s responsibilities include oversight of Disney Channels Worldwide’s Strategy and Operations and Franchise and Brand Management groups; Disney Media Sales and Marketing; and Radio Disney. He also oversees the portfolio’s work with Disney ABC Television Group’s Finance and Distribution groups and with Walt Disney International.

A Disney executive since 1998, Cocchia oversaw the creation of the business models and strategic plans for the launch of the Disney XD brand and the 24-hour Disney Junior channel. Most recently, he led the strategic plan for digital distribution and growth across Radio Disney. Cocchia has been Senior Vice President, Business Operations and General Manager, Disney Channels Worldwide, since 2011.

“Sean’s strategic acumen and insights have been driving forces in helping to build our business to even greater heights,” president and chief creative officer of Disney Channels Worldwide, Gary Marsh, said in a news statement. “His deep understanding of how Disney Channels Worldwide connects to the larger Walt Disney Company has been a huge catalyst for that growth.”
