It turns out Ryan Gosling looks just as good in a cape as he does in tap shoes.

Prior to Marvel casting Benedict Cumberbatch in the title role for “Doctor Strange,” the studio reportedly wanted to go with “La La Land’s” Ryan Gosling.

Now we have proof of the alternate reality where this was true.

Court Chu, a noted concept artist who has worked on films such as “Silence,” “Wonder Woman” and “War for the Planet of the Apes,” posted some concept art he drew of Gosling as Doctor Strange several years ago:

Just look at that pencil-thin goatee and massive collar.

“I worked probably not even a day on some version of ‘Doctor Strange’ years ago, and back then they wanted Gosling.” Chu wrote in a blog, which was posted last November, but only being discovered now.

Other actors who were originally considered for the role of The Sorcerer Supreme included Joaquin Phoenix and Jared Leto, the latter of whom is now The Joker.

Gosling is making the awards season rounds with the movie musical “La La Land,” directed by Damien Chazelle and co-staring Emma Stone. He is Golden Globe-nominated for Best Actor Comedy, and the film also picked up nominations for Best Director for Chazelle, Best Actress Comedy for Stone and Best Picture Comedy or Musical.

The awards season darling has already picked up eight Critics Choice Awards as well as several other honors and nominations from festivals and film associations.
