The Wednesday premiere of “Sharknado 2: The Second One” took Twitter even more by storm than the original social media phenomenon.
Per Nielsen, “Sharknado 2” generated 581,000 tweets from 188,000 unique authors. It was the most social show of the night.
Tweets about the sequel to last year’s campy breakout Syfy film were seen by a unique audience of 5.5 million people, generating 67.2 million Twitter impressions, according to the metric.
The original “Sharknado” debut on July 11, 2013, earned 318,000 tweets from 112,000 unique users.
This time around, the gang — and a Sharknado, of course — took a bite out of New York City.
