‘Sinister 2’ Red Band Trailer Promises Bloody Play Date With Mr. Boogie (Video)

Horror sequel due to scare its way into theaters August 21

Blumhouse Pictures released a red band trailer for the upcoming “Sinister 2” on Friday at Comic-Con.

In the sequel, a mother (Shannyn Sossamon) and her twin sons (Dartanian and Robert Sloan) move into the house occupied by the ill-fated family from the first film. Suddenly, one of the sons begins seeing visions of other young children who murdered their families at the behest of the evil spirit Mr. Boogie (Nicholas King).

The son is forced to watch bloody Super 8 films of each family’s death, including one in which a child nailed their family members to the floor and forced rats to gnaw their way through each family member’s body.

“Sinister” was a box office success, grossing $77 million against a $3 million budget. Blumhouse has specialized in such films, releasing other low-budget hits like “The Purge” and “Paranormal Activity” franchises as well as “Ouija.”

“Sinister 2” will debut in theaters Aug. 21.
