‘SNL’ 40th Anniversary Special Gets a Red Carpet Pre-Show

“Today” personalities Carson Daly, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker and Matt Lauer will interview past hosts, cast members and musical guests

The upcoming 40th anniversary special for “Saturday Night Live” is shaping up to be quite the extravaganza.

The anniversary celebration, airing on NBC Feb. 15, will be preceded by a special, “SNL 40th Red Carpet Live,” which will air at 7 p.m.

“SNL 40th Red Carpet Live” will be hosted by “Today” personalities Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Carson Daly and Al Roker. The quartet will interview past hosts, cast members past and present, and musical guests that have appeared on the long-running late-night sketch show.

Brad Lachman (“Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade,” “Christmas in Rockefeller Center”) will executive produce the red carpet show, with Bill Bracken producing and Alex Vietmeier (“Late Night With Seth Meyers”) directing.

As previously reported, the SNL anniversary special will welcome back a slew of former cast members including Chevy Chase, Jimmy Fallon, Bill Murray, Tina Fey and Eddie Murphy, as well as guest hosts Justin Timberlake, Alec Baldwin and Tom Hanks.
