‘Soul Man’ Singer Sam Moore Calls Pressure on Stars to Skip Trump Inauguration ‘Mind-Boggling’ (Video)

“OK, I’ve got nothing else to do,” Moore said when asked to perform at Trump’s pre-inauguration concert

R&B icon Sam Moore explained his decision to replace Jennifer Holliday as a performer at Thursday’s pre-inauguration concert for Donald Trump.

“I swear out of the 61 years I was in the business and I’m 81 now, I’ll be 82 this year, I have never in my life thought I would see something like this. This is mind-boggling,” Moore told Tucker Carlson on Fox News on Tuesday. “You don’t know the man. The man hasn’t taken office. He hasn’t said his name yet to say, ‘Yes, I’ll be president.’

Moore said it’s impossible to get anti-Trump protesters to change their minds, calling it “sad.”

“I was coming here anyway, first of all. I am going to do something for the veterans. While I was here, I heard that Jennifer Holliday was gonna be singing. Well, I like her… she can really sing,” Moore said. “Then my publicist called and spoke to my wife. My wife said you’re going to have to stay over and I said, ‘Why, I wanna get back home.’”

Moore said that he was asked to take the place of Holliday, who backed out after receiving criticism over the scheduled performance at Thursday’s “Make America Great Again” concert at the Lincoln Memorial.

“I said, ‘OK I’ve got nothing else to do,’” Moore said before explaining that he has never seen this kind of social pressure for stars to skip a political event.
