‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Trailer Teases Vulture’s Ties to ‘Avengers’

CinemaCon 2017: Michael Keaton’s bad guy has a connection to another Marvel property, director reveals

CimemaCon 2017 got a sneak peek at the latest “Spider-Man: Homecoming” trailer, which hits tomorrow morning.

It contains a bit more information about Michael Keaton’s motives as villain The Vulture — specifically that he might be part of a rag-tag group hired to clean-up after all the damage from prior Marvel movies, like the alien monster from the first “Avengers” installment.

Director Jon Watts teased the big reveal Monday night ahead of the presentation during a one-on-one with TheWrap.

“In the same way that Peter Parker is the ground-level eyes through which we see the Marvel universe, I thought we could see Keaton’s character as the ground level of what the villain’s side of that universe could be. And that was really exciting,” Watts said.

“Think of all the crazy junk that’s been left behind from all the previous Marvel stories. Who cleans up? Who cleans up after the Chitauri monster? Is it regular guys who already did these kinds of jobs? Is it an agency who takes care of it?”

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” also stars Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, along with Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier and Tony Revolori.
